The Institute was upgrated as DIET Uttar Dinajpur in 2006. DIET Uttar Dinajpur got recognition of D.El.Ed. Course in the session 2012-2014, Vide NCTE NO.- ERC/7-134.6.4/12164, Dt. 15/6/2012. and also may be offered D.P.S.E. Course from the Session 2016-2018.
DIET Uttar Dinajpur play a great role for Teacher Education (Pre Service And In Service) of Uttar Dinajpur as well as undivided West Dinajpur. The Institute is Co-educational and fully residential in manner. It is a well decorated institute with various trees, Open cultural Stage, Play Ground, Pond, Flower Garden, Kitchen Garden etc. Besides the normal studies, Students of this Institute Play a great role to administration through Vidyarthi Parishad (Parliament) which held atleast once in every Month.
